autoportraits

Autoportraits (self-portraits) is the title of a series of works using Perspex transparent tubes. Inside the tubes several layers of thick, monochrome paint has been poured on all the length. Tubes lengthes are related to differents measurements from my body. Painting is treated as a pure physical material, as a subject, as a presence, with no longer desire to representation, representing nothing more than what has beeen poured. The first layer of paint remains the only one visible standing in front of the tube, behind the acrylic glass, and it hides the other layers which are perceptible only by looking by the sides or inside the tube.

Autoportraits has no fixed focal point, no focus, and they invite spectators to gaze them through their movement in the space. Their pictorial space is curved and non euclidian.
