Lapsus is the generic title of a series of works where a given geometric shape (circle, rectangle, trapezium, oval,…) is set up against a painted surface on the wall. Resting on the ground, the shape strikes up a spatial correspondance with the paintings and invites spectators to compare proportions.
Made up of different opaque or translucent materials (Perspex, PC, plywood, plasterboard, corrugate fibreboard, PVC,…), these shapes address the wall receiving them and the decorative and formal function of the swathe of colour that brings them to life.
The painting is separate, dissociated from the shape. The shape is both object and plane, and the painting maintains a somewhat formal relationship with it, creating the effect of multiple possible ties between the two.
